Meteņi Day Celebration “Come, Meteņi!”

In February, enthusiasts gathered at the museum who wanted to learn more about Meteņi traditions and celebrate this festival together.
Jānis Kušķis, a researcher of Latvian traditional wisdom, spoke about the significance of holidays and customs not only in the Latvian context but also connected traditions with foreign lands and other times.
Following the presentation, there was a feast of Meteņi barley porridge, contests of strength and boasting, chasing away Meteņi, games, singing together with the Ogre folklore group “Artava”, sadancošanās ar Ogres Danču klubu.
The event was organized by the association “Ogriņa”.
