From February 10 to 28, an exhibition will be on display in Ogre, at the Youth House (Brīvības Street 40), connecting past experiences and future visions.
The exhibition is titled ‘Winter Joys in the Past and Future’.
The exhibition will present development visions for the Ķente Hill area – concept boards created by students, which will allow visitors to learn about plans for the future of this territory and imagine how it could develop into a place for active recreation and winter/summer sports in Ogre.
At the same time, the exhibition will feature items from the collection of the Ogre History and Art Museum related to winter sports activities in the early 20th century – skis, ski poles, sleds, and other historical objects and testimonies. The exhibits will offer children and young people an insight into how our great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers actively moved, skied, and enjoyed winter, experiencing nature in a different time and rhythm.
The exhibition invites you to explore, compare, and be inspired, discovering that movement, joy, and being in nature are values that unite generations.
The Ķente Hill Visions project was developed in spring 2025 within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the Development and Planning Department of the Ogre Municipality and the Institute of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Engineering of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, when students of the landscape architecture study program developed development visions for the Ķente Hill area, as well as design and concept guidelines.
Project manager – Linda Neško, project manager of the Development and Planning Department of Ogre Municipality. Exhibition artistic curator – Māris Grosbahs.
