Yule Log Dragging

2019. On December 22, the Ogre Museum celebrated the winter solstice. The event featured storyteller Gunta Saule, the Ogre Culture Center folklore group “Artava”, and the Ogre Dance Club. “Etnosfēra” organized the celebration. Residents of Ogre, friends, relatives, neighbors, and like-minded people were invited. Everyone who wished to gather at the dawn of the new Sun year, to bless and honor it, and to wish prosperity for themselves, their families, their circle of relatives and friends, their city, and their country Latvia, came together.

There was communal dancing and singing, stories about traditions were shared, and a bonfire, log dragging and burning, and tea drinking took place.
