The exhibition “Ogre 88” presented a selection of photographs taken in 1988 as part of the One Day in Ogre photo project. These images were captured in the former Ogre district, which at the time also included the present-day municipalities of Ķegums, Ikšķile and Lielvārde.
As the country’s centenary approached, we found ourselves increasingly recalling our parents’ and grandparents’ stories about their childhood and youth, as well as our own experiences in kindergartens and schools. Photographs preserved in family albums serve as documentary evidence of these memories.
The exhibition featured images that have been held in the collection of the Ogre History and Art Museum for nearly thirty years and have since acquired cultural and historical significance.
