Jānis Ziņģītis is one of Latvia’s most significant and renowned artists, known for his work in the realism genre, particularly in landscape painting. This exhibition features paintings created by the artist over the past three decades. Through his work, Ziņģītis reflects deeply and empathetically on the tranquility of nature, the fragility of its inhabitants, and the absence of a crumbling civilization.

Ziņģītis’s paintings are meditative visual spaces, subtly nuanced, that invite the attentive observer to experience the continuous movement of nature and spiritual liberation from daily worries.

Jānis Ziņģītis (b. 1973) graduated from Jānis Rozentāls Riga Art High School (1992) and the Painting Department of the Art Academy of Latvia (1998). He also studied at the University of Southern Maine, USA (1994–1995). In addition to his artistic practice, he has worked as an interpreter, a drawing and painting teacher, and a school principal.
