Interdisciplinary Art Exhibition “Artists of Ogre Region”

The exhibition “Artists of Ogres Region” is designed as a competition exhibition, aiming to provide artists with an opportunity to showcase their works and strengthen the artistic character and recognition of the Ogres region. It promotes broader participation of regional artists in cultural, artistic, and public processes.

Exhibition dates: May 16 – August 3, 2025.

The aim of the competition exhibition is to provide artists with an opportunity to showcase their works and strengthen the artistic character and recognition of the Ogres region, promoting broader participation of Ogres region artists in cultural, artistic, and public processes. We invited every artist with a connection to the Ogres region to participate, regardless of their professional experience, and received 51 applications. The works for the exhibition were selected by the jury commission: Māris Grosbahs, curator of exhibitions and displays at the Ogres History and Art Museum; photographer Georgs Avetisjans; art historian Māra Lāss; graphic artist and art historian Valdis Villerušs; and scenographer and multimedia artist Ineta Sipunova.

For the Ogres History and Art Museum, it is essential to foster dialogue between the past, present, and future, and to seek connection with people, the region, and the present day through art. We bring art to people – from the heart. It is important for us to show diverse perspectives, which is why we want to collaborate with artists, partners, and audiences whom we often don’t encounter in museums.

The aim of the Ogres History and Art Museum is to establish the regional artists’ exhibition as a regular event, which would become a stable platform for showcasing the diversity and potential of local art.
