The image of Lāčplēsis is closely associated with the Ogre region. The highest military award of the state, named after Lāčplēsis, was bestowed upon heroes of World War I and the Latvian War of Independence. The exhibition “The Order of Lāčplēsis: Stories of Ogre Region’s Heroes” showcased historical artifacts related to the Order of Lāčplēsis and residents of the Ogre region – participants of World War I and the Latvian War of Independence – from the collections of G. Rusiņš, J. Vigups, and others. On the opening day, visitors had a special opportunity to view a genuine 1st Class Order of Lāčplēsis, of which only 11 have been awarded.
